Bio/Description

Scott is a scientist turned venture capitalist that is dedicated to supporting academic entrepreneurs in commercializing their research in the life sciences. As the Director of Venture Commercialization at Foundation Venture Capital Group, the venture arm of the New Jersey Health Foundation, he is responsible for identifying cutting edge health-related technologies that have commercial potential, evaluating these technologies from a scientific and business perspective, and generating investment recommendations. Post investment, he works very closely with portfolio companies in all aspects of their operation to ensure their success. Prior to joining Foundation Venture Capital Group, Scott served as the Course Manager for the summer Neurobiology Course at the Marine Biological Laboratory, where he worked with renowned neuroscientists from all over the globe. Scott holds two BS degrees from the University of New Haven in Forensic Science and Pre-Medical Biology and completed his PhD in neuroscience at Dartmouth College, where he studied the development and function of one of the structures responsible for neuronal signaling. He is passionate about supporting the innovation ecosystem throughout New Jersey and beyond by mentoring students interested in VC as well as prospective founders as they begin their startup journeys.
